Odette Michell
Main Rd
Baxterley, Atherstone CV9 2LE
UK
This event has been postponed until 30 September.
Odette Michell is an English folk singer and songwriter with a stunning new take on the acoustic tradition and a voice capable of demonstrating the finer points of both folk and country with genuine craftsmanship. Her vocal style has been described as “warm, intelligent and sitting comfortably amidst folk guitar in a timeless songwriting style” – and has been compared in similarity to the likes of Sandy Denny, Lucinda Williams and Joni Mitchell.
Things have been moving at a pace for Odette ever since she released her debut EP ‘By Way of Night’ in April of this year. The release garnered positive reviews as well as gaining Odette her first national and international radio plays. It also showcased her trademark vocal style and unique folk/country underpinnings, and heralded a fine contribution to the rich acoustic tradition that the songs themselves emerged from.
A dynamic and energetic live performer, Odette has been fortunate enough to have shared the bill with musical legends Joan Baez, Eddi Reader and Jools Holland amongst others, and in December Odette will be opening for Phil Beer (Show of Hands) as his Special Guest for selected dates on his solo tour, including an exclusive Matinee at the Green Note Club in London in December.
Odette will then be touring nationally in support of her first full length album in spring 2019 which she is currently recording with Stu Hanna from award winning folk duo Megson. The first single from the forthcoming album will accompany a video premiere on Folk Radio UK and is due for official release on 30th November 2018.

Floor Singers booked to perform on the night …
Bob Brooker
Bob describes himself as a semi-retired Traditional Folk Musician. Retired, perhaps, but retiring.
An excellent multi-instrumentalist with a wide range of songs, Bob is a local favourite for a very good reason.
Brian Phillips
A regular performer on the folk music scene in the Midlands and the West Country, he gives all he has, whether it be a floor spot at a club night, or as the principal artist on the main stage at a festival.
Malc and Gill
As a duo, Malc & Gill, not surprisingly with their backgrounds, have a wide diversity of material, both traditionally and contemporary based, and ranging from clever harmony work to humour and even a serious ballad or two, performed either a-capella or with Malc’s pleasantly understated guitar accompaniment.
David Parr
David has been playing guitar for more years than he cares to remember. He was a full-time professional for 14 years or so. Now, after a brief interruption when he taught in special needs, primary and then secondary schools in Warwickshire, he’s back doing the ‘real’ job.
Renowned for his style and expertise, David is also well known for his comedic songs.
John Meechan
John has been on the folk scene for 40-odd years. Hailing from Yorkshire, many of his songs are rooted there.
His passion for folk songs has resulted in a wide-ranging repertoire, always particularly well-presented.
Elaine Meechan
Elaine, keyboard and accordion player in many an ensemble, has that rare talent that true musicians possess; the ability to empathise with those she performs with. She is an important part of a number of folk-related bands in the area.
And your hosts, of course, are
Finger In The Jar
Formed especially as the host group for Atherstone Folk Club in June 2013, Finger In The Jar are Anne & Steve Beeson and Phil Benson.
Finger In The Jar perform as a group, as duos and as solo artists, depending on the songs being sung.
