Paul Walker and Karen Pfeiffer

“I’ve never seen our audience so spellbound!” (Malc Gurnham, Bedworth Folk Club)
So, what is it that makes this internationally touring Anglo-German duo so irresistible?
Whilst Paul Walker & Karen Pfeiffer are acclaimed for their image provoking songwriting, expressive vocals and authentic musicianship, they are frequently recalled for their warmth, humour and their remarkable ability to engage with their audience. Karen’s natural theatricality and life affirming playful energy compliments charmingly with Paul’s calm geniality and combined they magically turn a great performance into a real event.
“With two grand voices – individually and in harmony” (Folker-German Folk Magazine), Paul & Karen offer a versatile miscellany of self-penned and imaginatively arranged songs, delivered with guitar, woodwind instrumentation and occasional percussion.
The duo has toured its shows extensively taking in New Zealand, Australia, Germany, Ireland and most corners of the UK, wooing audiences with Karen’s southern German accent tinged with an ‘oatcake induced’ North Staffordshire dialect from Paul’s heritage.
Poised to record a new album in Germany just when the pandemic halted things, the past 16 months have seen them focusing their attention on writing, home recording and most importantly, developing their online presence. Their weekly live stream ‘Afternoon Tea with Paul & Karen’ is now in excess of 80 shows and attracts a dedicated international following.

Floor Singers booked to perform on the night …
John Meechan
John has been on the folk scene for 40-odd years. Hailing from Yorkshire, many of his songs are rooted there.
His passion for folk songs has resulted in a wide-ranging repertoire, always particularly well-presented.
Elaine Meechan
Elaine, keyboard and accordion player in many an ensemble, has that rare talent that true musicians possess; the ability to empathise with those she performs with. She is an important part of a number of folk-related bands in the area.
Pete McParland
Pete performs regularly, and with acclaim, at numerous folk clubs in the Midlands. Songs from the 60s and 70s are his forte, but he wanders into other areas, too, with great success.
Malc and Gill
As a duo, Malc & Gill, not surprisingly with their backgrounds, have a wide diversity of material, both traditionally and contemporary based, and ranging from clever harmony work to humour and even a serious ballad or two, performed either a-capella or with Malc’s pleasantly understated guitar accompaniment.
Bob Brooker
Bob describes himself as a semi-retired Traditional Folk Musician. Retired, perhaps, but retiring.
An excellent multi-instrumentalist with a wide range of songs, Bob is a local favourite for a very good reason.
Craig Sunderland
An impressive singer-songwriter from Coventry, with a growing reputation.
And your hosts, of course, are
