“Tales of The Towpath”
Songs, film and narration of canal tales.
The band have been performing as a 5 multi-instrumental piece band for the last 18 months, telling the intertwining stories of coal and canals, the bedrock of our industrial revolution. Now they are bringing you their new show focussing on the story of the canals with a wealth of songs and tales.
Brian Langtry is the man behind the show, a songwriter, playwright, film maker and Director of many shows including “The Eva Cassidy story” and “The Billy Holiday story” which toured The UK and Europe yearly for a number of years between 2004 and 2015. Brian plays guitar, mandolin, melodica, banjo, harmonica and vocals.
John and Anne Harris with Anne on melodeon and vocals, John on guitar, harmonica and vocals are stepping out of their usual Cajun personas as Dragonhead to enrich Brian’s “Tales of the Towpath”. John has 2 radio shows on digital stations, “Fais Do Do”, a Cajun Show and “Blues in the Night”, the clue is in the title!
Anne Beeson plays guitar, recorders and Low D whistle and adds lead and harmony vocals. She performs regularly with husband, Steve, and Phil Benson as Atherstone Folk club’s house band “Finger in the Jar”.
Martin O’Connor plays guitar and bass in a wide variety of styles from folk to blues to rock. His largest audience was in Coventry during the visit of Pope Paul II – it was estimated at 2.25 million! In the show he plays 6 string, 12 string and bass.
