99 Long Street
Atherstone CV9 1BB
This meeting will be our 100th, and we have put together a fabulous package of entertainment.
Belzebub is a group of talented and experienced musicians, who specialise in the music of England, Scotland, Ireland and America. The band members have been performing folk songs and dance tunes for over 30 years and have a wealth of experience, which they put into practice at folk clubs and ceilidhs.
Most of the band’s engagements are barn dances but it is a very versatile outfit and can also be booked for folk clubs, ceilidhs, Burns’ Night, St Patrick’s Night or square dances. In addition the band enjoys playing for medieval banquets and other theme nights.
Belzebub also play barn dances and ceilidhs under the names of Reel Easy and The Shire Band.
“A great, fun band and they do like their music very much indeed. Marvellous”
Mick Peat, BBC Radio Folkwav

Ian Wilson plays accordion, concertina, octave mandolin and cittern. Ian’s driving rhythms and strong vocals are a key feature of many of the band’s album tracks. Ian also plays with the well-respected Peeping Tom ceilidh band.
Ray Jane is a fine singer, who also plays bass, guitar, flute and whistles. Ray played in a duo called The King’s Shilling before joining The Plumtree Country Dance Band, which was the forerunner of BELZEBUB. Ray is also the band’s caller.
Support on this very special night will be provided by Daisybell …
Since forming in 2016, Daisybell have been making waves on the local and national folk scene, delivering performances of passion, wit and raw emotion at clubs from Minehead to Gateshead, Worcester to Sheffield, releasing an EP and a video, fitting in a couple of live radio appearances and drawing acclaim for their “Sing Like A Daisybell” vocal workshops.
To date, the trio have appeared at festivals in Warwick, Broadstairs, Moira, Lichfield, Bromyard, Alcester, Bedworth and more.
Lauded for their song-writing, harmonies and engaging stage presence, now is a great time to check out their gigs, recordings and social media banter.
… and Maria Barham
As a solo artist, after many years of playing a wide repertoire of covers up and down the country, in bars, pubs, restaurants etc (which she still does), Maria has decided to concentrate more on writing and performing her own songs again.
She is just as comfortable playing in a noisy bar as she is a quiet Folk club, where she’ll happily perform her own and Traditional folk songs.
She was the first guest artist at the first meeting of Atherstone Folk Club, with Carole Palmer, so it’s fitting she can be with us for the 100th.
And your hosts, of course, are
Finger In The Jar
Formed especially as the host group for Atherstone Folk Club in June 2013, Finger In The Jar are Anne & Steve Beeson and Phil Benson.
Finger In The Jar perform as a group, as duos and as solo artists, depending on the songs being sung.
